Sick Call: Please call the EM Chief phone number 917-410-1056 no matter the hour to reach the Chief on Call.

Emails or texts are NOT sufficient (we don't check the account often enough, and every hour counts when arranging last-minute coverage).

The sick resident must also notify their home department/chiefs of absence, cc'ing  nypemchiefs@gmail.com

Cornell ED Schedule Key:

Main ED shifts:
D: 7:30am – 7:30pm signout
M: 12noon –12 midnight signout
N: 7:30pm – 7:30am signout

Main ED shifts for Medicine Residents:
D+: 9am – 8:30pm (out by 9pm)
D#: 7:30am – 7pm (out by 7:30pm)
M+: 12pm – 11:30pm (out by 12am)
N+: 6pm – 5:30am (out by 6am)
N#: 8pm – 7:30am (out by 8am)

Urgent care shifts in Area D:
U: 8am – 7:30pm signout
U+: 9am – 8:30pm (out by 9pm)

Small-case letter indicates area of the ED you are working in. For example:

Da = day shift, area A
Nc = night shift, area C

Education:

Morning Report: M/Tu/Th/Fri at 8am in Cornell ED Resident Room M-107.  Day shift residents (areas A and C) attend after 7:30am morning rounds.

Wed Conference (8am-noon, attend if working D shift): 
Alternates between Columbia campus and Cornell Resident Room M-107. Check nypem.org for the exact location.  While there are exceptions, conferences are typically held at the uptown Columbia campus on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the calendar with all remaining conferences being held at the downtown Cornell campus. The inter-campus shuttle leaves at 7:15am from the corner of York and 70th Street.  Plan on being there at least 5-10 minutes before to ensure you obtain a seat.  Then return to Cornell on the 12:15PM shuttle from the Broadway entrance to Presbyterian next to CHONY.  If you are working an M shift, do not go to Weds conference, just start work in your area at 12PM.
